Fuzzy Blue Brooding (Kurt)
TJ bit her lip, crouching on the banister of the balcony outside her room as the sound from the radio drifted outwards. By now, she'd heard about Emma, Jean, Sean and the others being sucked in to the rift created by the young boy Gordon. She didn't have a clue as to what to do- with the Exiles, she'd just been along for the ride and asskicking- Blink had always been the one who knew what to do. She was brawn, not brains when it came to interdimensional hero-work.

Now, she was feeling useless. There was no ass to kick- the culprit here had been an innocent young boy with limited control over his powers. What could she do? She hated this feeling- people who'd helped her, who she cared about, were adrift in the timestream (something she had experience with) and there was nothing she could do but sit and wait while the other X-Men figured this out.

She sighed "this bites" she said to no one in particular. She didn't realize there was a pair of familiar ears nearby to hear her complain.

Kurt had just arrived back, and had been under the impression that a meeting would have started by now. However, as it turned out it'd be at least another hour before the meeting would start. Leaving Betsy to find Xi'an and finish filling them in on the events... Kurt had decided to make his way to the kitchen to grab himself something to eat. Despite the huge not of worry he had in his stomach, he was still hungry.

However, it looked like he wouldn't make it to the kitchen right away, for he was about ready to walk by the stairs when he heard TJ's sigh. Concerned, he made his way over to her. It was pretty obvious by the way she was behaving that she had already heard the news, which probably was a good thing for he wasn't quite sure how to break it to her.

"Vell, if you aren't a sight for sore eyes..."

The corner of her mouth raised in a hint of a smile as she turned, hopping down from her perch "Hey Daddy. Any news about... well, you know..?" she trailed off "I'm guessing not. I hope Rachel has more knowledge on the subject than I do."

Kurt let out a soft sigh, shaking his head. "No, I'm still in the dark as much as you are liebschen. Although, there vill be a meeting in a hour." He walked over to her and gave her a tight hug. "I've missed you vhile I vas in Germany... one of these days, I'm going to have to take you with me. I think you'd enjoy it."

She couldn't help but smile at the hug "I missed you too. Glad to have you back." She laughed "That would be nice. I haven't been to Europe in this timeline yet." Another giggle "Wow, that's a sentence you don't hear every day."

She pulled back "We'll get them back, right? I mean, these kinds of things always work out in the end..." But then she haden't gotten go to home yet either had she? Instead, she was making a new one. Even if she was really starting to like it here, she'd like to at least let her real family know she was okay.

"I'm sure they're at least holding up. They're a tough group."

He smiled, glad to see that he wasn't the only who was trying to be positive about the whole situation. "Vell, I'm sure it is probably different from ze areas vhere you have been. Probably nicer to, ja?"

He nodded his head. "Of course. As I vas telling Besty in ze car, this isn't ze first time a group of us have somehow ended up in another time era. Not to mention with such a strong telepath along with them, I really can't see them getting into to much trouble."

If only he believed his own words though. Well he did believe them for the most part, but still.. he couldn't seem to get rid of the nagging doubt in the pit of his stomach.

"Yeah, probably a lot nicer. The last trip to Europe I remember involved defending Latveria against the Atlanteans. Never thought I'd be fighting with Doom." She shook her head, changing the subject.

"Maybe we should be looking in newspaper articles from the last... I dunno, fifty years or so. See if anything pops up. Well, unless the ended up in an alternate past and anything they do won't effect our present..." she stopped "Ugh, even after all the time with the Exiles, time and dimension travel still gives me a headache. Or at least talking about it does."

He of course had already heard of a few stories from TJ's time with the Exiles, but he hadn't heard the one about her fighting Dr. Doom with the Atlanteans, whoever they were. Here he was thinking that his team had some wild adventures... probably didn't even compare to what the Exiles had seen.

"You know, that might be a good idea. I'm sure ze library vould have a few old newspapers ve can look into it... vant to give it a shot before ze meeting?" Not that he was expecting to find anything... after all, they could have ended up as far back as the time of the dinosaurs.

"Can't hurt. At least I won't feel so... useless" she said with a shrug. She yawned "I think we'll need some coffee too. Strong coffee. MacTaggart-strong" she said with a grin. She'd grown up with Moira living at the X-Mansion. She'd been addicted to the woman's insanely strong coffee since she was sixteen. Tolerating it was a mutant power, Aunt Kate (or Kitty, as she seemed to still call herself around these parts) had joked more than once.
"Unless you'd prefer a weaker brew."

He chuckled. "Vell, I don't think I have ever had her coffee before, but ze stronger the better. Since I've been back, I have only gotten about three hours of sleep." He really didn't see how anyone on the team could be useless in this situation. After all, everyone had something to contribute... whether it be emotional support of some strong, kick ass power. "So, shall ve be off to ze kitchen then?"

She laughed "Yeah, I've heard stories from other Excalibur members around here about Moira's coffee. I think she and Pete Wisdom were the only ones brave enough to drink it." But was there anyting Wisdom wouldn't drink? She grinned, heading back into her room to grab a claw hairclip to pull her dreads back "I'm right behind you. Pretty sure I can brew something stong but not lethal to unsuspecting stomachs."

He chuckled. "Ja, I tended to stay away from it if I could... but now, it just might hit ze spot." Normally he would have given those he was going to be teleporting with a heads up, but he knew TJ was used to it and never felt the effects of it like other people, so he didn't find it necessary to warn her when he grabbed her hand and *bamf* teleported the two of them into the kitchen.

"So, vhile be vait on ze coffee... vhy don't you tell me vhat you have been up to vhile I vas gone? Staying out of trouble I hope."

She was pretty used to teleporting. There were just a couple blinks to keep the smoke out of her eyes when they arrived, then went straight for the coffee maker. "Not a whole lot really. Spending a lot of time with Gordon, they have me mentoring him. Got a lot in common with the kid, seeing as the two of us are unstuck in time, even if it's in different ways" she said, putting in what looked like far too many heaps of coffee grounds into the machine. Hope you like it strong Kurt! It's a wonder TJ doesn't regularly vibrate, by the looks of what she's brewing here.

Kurt leaned against the counter as he watched her make the coffee and his eyes widened a bit when she saw the amount of coffee grounds she had put in. He was going to tell her that maybe she should ease up but before he could get the words out, the coffee pot had already started brewing. He was starting to having second thoughts about this coffee.

"Vow, I'm glad to hear tht. Vorking with kids is great, ja?! Vhen I vent to pick up Betsy and ze kids, I had a chance to meet him briefly however he vas so scared... I really didn't get a chance with him." Not that he could blame the kid for being scared.

"Yeah, the poor kid's been through a lot. He seems to have latched on to Betsy and myself. Starting to feel like he's a little brother or something" she grinned "I was... or am... an only child. Mom and dad. Er, you. Kinda figured one kid who could climb walls was enough" she explained wryly.

"But then, I had a lot of surrogate family growing up. You're never lonely growing up at Xavier's. Plus, what other kids got to eat with Captain America at Thanksgiving?" TJ just might have a first in X-Men history- a happy childhood.

"I'm hoping we can give Gordon a childhood like mine. Only, you know, without the wall-climbing part. You have no idea how many vases I broke as a kid. Eventually they just started buying plastic everything. The mansion took on a more modern decor thanks to me."

As Kurt listened to her talk, he just nodded his head softly. He had forgotten how hyper TJ could be at times, and how much she could ramble on. He chuckled at her last comment. "That sounds like how I vas vhen I vas younger. Back in ze days of ze circus... I've been told I vas quite ze handful."

The coffee had to be done, for the smell was so strong it could clear his sinuses. Perhaps he would pass on the coffee this time. "Vell, I'm sure he vill. After all... he couldn't have picked a better place to grow up in, ja?"

"You got that right" she said, pouring herself a cup of the tar coffee and adding far more sugar than was healthy. It was a wonder those canine teeth of hers were still in her head. "If I could only get one thing from my home timeline, it'd be my scrapbook. I have so many good memories" she said, smiling before taking her first sip. "There's this video of you... or, well, my timeline's you just after I was born, bamfing around and handing out Uncle Logan's cigars and chattering like a monkey on crack" she giggled at the memory. "I couldn't have asked for a better dad."

He walked over to the pot and took a glance at it. Was it even coffee...? Hesitantly, he took his own mug and poured himself some. It was coming out awfully slow... and it was then he decided he was't that tired.

He smiled, listening to her talk about her real dad and couldn't help but chuckle when she explained the scene after her birth. "It's strange, but I can picture myself doing something like that. That is, if I vere to ever have a child of my own."

Of course in order for that to happen, he'd have to have a girlfriend first, and at the current moment he really didn't know of anyone he was that interested in. "Vhat other things did your dad do that you can remember?"

"Oh wow. Well, the Errol Flynn movie marathons were a very common thing" she said after a long sip of coffee-like-substance. Hank might want to have a look at this stuff after she was done drinking it. "He taught me to fence as well. Though I have to admit I tend to rely more on Uncle Logan's hand-to-hand asskicking lessons when it comes to real combat. The swords tend to be more of an off-time thing for me." She leaned against the counter, thinking to herself for a moment.
"And him and my mom, they were like... teenagers together. I used to joke about it being gross but... it was nice to have parents that loved each other so much." She sighed "I miss them. You know, I don't even know how long I've been gone? Between jumping between timelines, and how different time moves in them... It could be nine months or nine years later back home." She paused to caffeinate herself a bit more "Sorry, I'm getting mopey on you. We've got bigger problems to deal with. To the library then?"

So her father liked the same movies he did, and even knew how to fence. It was no wonder TJ had thought he was her father when she arrived for the first time. He and her father were so alike inside and out... and in a way, he wanted to meet this other version of him. Just to see how similar they really were... but that might not work to well either. Kurt wasn't exactly sure how the whole jumping through timeline thing worked.

His grin faded though when he saw her get depressed talking about her parents. As much as he would miss her, he couldn't help but wish there was someway to get her back home. "No vorries. I am sorry I brought it up. Anyway... library it is." He offered her his hand once more.

After topping up her cup of fuel, she took his hand in her own, almost identical, save the slightly lighter shade of blue and lighter fuzz on her own. "It's fine, I'm not really capable of being mopey too long" she smiled to prove her point.
"I'm ready when you are" she said, holding her mug so that the coffee wouldn't spill when they bamfed in to the library. Hopefully they wouldn't give any kids doing some latenight studying heart attacks.

*Bamf* The two of them had once again teleported away, only this time to appear in the library. Luckly for them, there were no kids around for Kurt had a feeling not to many of them would be used to the noise he makes when he appears or the smell he leaves behind him.

"Ok... now, I'm trying to remember vhere ze periodicals vould be... I'm pretty sure they have them all on computer now, ja?"
